This sounds about right. It is still hard for me to believe that this time last year I COULD NOT MOVE! Really. My physical therapist was slowly working to release a pinched sciatic nerve and just standing was difficult. She would work to manually MOVE the vertebras in my spinal column. It was so disheartening because I had recently made progress in my weight loss journey only to have it sabotaged by an inability to move. This was not some bad knee or busted ankle, this was right at my CORE. The part of your spine that determines if you can support your weight or even propel your leg forward. I sunk into depression and ate junky food like coke and chips (as well as my healthy food when someone would cook for me) and did not move. (Definitely not the best move for someone with #PCOS or pre #diabetes.)

Because I shared my 21 Day Fix program results yesterday, I felt it was only fair to share my journey results today. The images on the top are June 11, 2013. Day one of Les Mills Combat, after I was released from remedial physical therapy to begin exercising. This journey has involved a lot of dedication, especially as I saw the scale move down and then back UP again. It is only the pictures and the measurements (and my clothes falling off me) that inspires me to keep going. I’m slow, but I’m steady and I’m building muscle – much of which was lost when I pinched my sciatic nerve in March 2013. I’m happy to say I am at that point where I am consistently surprised at what my body can do now. It’s a good place to be!
Weightloss Stats: -6.9% body fat, -23.5 in, -12lbs, 4+ sizes
Up next is the Brazil Butt Lift Summer Slimdown Challenge! I look forward to being swimsuit ready this year and rocking it by the end of the summer. Sometimes I WISH we could *target* the trouble areas, but weight loss and body toning just isn’t like that. Ibut if I could…. that nastiness around the middle where abs are supposed to be would be on the top of my list!
Autumn got me results, I am stronger, I am leaner, I have more balance, and I am happy to be moving in a general forward motion toward my goal health and body.I traded body shape more than anything, because I was surprised to find a larger selection of my swimsuits *fit* when I searched for my *goal* swimsuit for the Brazil Butt Lift Summer Slimdown Challenge. I REALLY look forward to the next challenge, swimsuit season, here I come! Never fear, though Autumn Calabrese‘s workouts rock my world, so I will be revisiting her on a regular basis. She is now my 2nd favorite (the first being Chalene Johnson and ChaLean Extreme. GO HEAVY, OR GO HOME, am I right ladies?!?)
If you are one of the ones that has been looking in my meal tracker (myfitnesspal) and wondering what the recipe is for this phenomenal low-carb (but still yummy) pancake, you are in luck! I have to say, I have been on the search for a long time for a pancake that I can eat without feeling sick afterward and this one fits the bill!! It even passed the kid test; their pancakes were buttered up and gone before I could get mine in the frying pan, or even bother to ask if they wanted any bacon or eggs! Yup. Kid-approved low carb pancakes! I did it, done it!! (If you get that reference, we need to be friends.)
21 Day Fix | Dirty 30 Preview
Are you excited about the 21 Day Fix for it’s portion control and meal planning, but nervous about the workouts? This is a sneak peak of just ONE of the 7 various workouts you will get with this 21 day program!
Ever start out with big plans only to discover that the universe could really Give a Shit™ about all that? Me too. Almost EVERY DAY. So, to be honest, I have this great schedule all mapped out – I use calendar on my mac and it syncs to google cal and then to my phone and tablet. Scheduling done. Right?! Isn’t that the way it is supposed to work? not so much. It seems that scheduling is so much more than pretty colors on a calendar. You actually have to follow through with the darned scheduling for it to work. Damn it man.
So, I went to bed last night with the idea that I was going to knock out my workout early in the morning, then head to the kitchen for some breakfast before homeschooling, errands, and normal Mommy duties called. Truth is, my 3-year old crawled into the bed with me and we snuggled … Continue reading
Well, even if *I* am not having the best results, (damn you, insulin resistance) the participants in my challenge group are!! This 21 Day Fix challenge group is kicking ass and taking names! I am so proud of everyone in it, pleased with how easy it is (even my hubby, Steve Anderson Jr is actively following the meal plan!!) I’m LOVING the AMAZING results everyone is having.
Challengers are reporting between 4 and 8 lbs lost in one week – and NO ONE is starving! It’s not just water weight, either … we’re also talking about 5 inches lost on average this week! If anything, we are eating MORE FOOD, MORE OFTEN than before! We’re supporting and motivating one another, trimming up, getting healthy, trading recipes, comparing notes, and looking forward to swimsuit season!
More participants are starting March 3 & 12, so if you want in, let me know! Have questions? Ask! This is about getting healthy and changing your lifestyle, not starving yourself until you reach a goal. Time to … Continue reading
Didn’t workout today. I’m LOVING the 21 Day Fix workouts, but feel that the food plan falls short of mentioning what to do if you are insulin resistant and controlling your symptoms with food. Maybe it assumes that you already know how to do that if that is your case… I feel that it is missing. 2 days worth of small amounts of carbs and not enough fats and I need a carb cleanse!
Right now, I am just focusing on straightening things back out, and then I will figure out how to modify the plan to work for those of us with metabolic issues. 21 day fix is a great program that makes portion control easy … it is just missing a little blurb about how to modify for insulin resistance or diabetes. Since these are BIG issues, I feel BB dropped the ball on this one, and I hope they do something about it in … Continue reading
Valentine’s Day Weekend
This weekend was a lot of hustle and bustle for me, so apologies for not being on more. Friday ended with a sweet Valentine’s surprise of handmade chocolate covered strawberries and wine as well as some yummy Boston’s gluten-free pizza and Florentine salad. This weekend ramped up in intensity on Saturday morning with a little sciatica running progress, learning to eat cleaner and healthier for me, gaining a better understanding of portion control, designing meal planning worksheets, and receiving heart-breaking news. Whew!
I met up with a group for a run here in Jacksonville on the beach. I think it was about 3 miles, but the real victory for me was that I was able to run for a full 20 minutes at a GOOD speed, without stopping, slowing down, stumbling or mis-stepping or feeling like I might lose my balance! PROGRESS!!
I went to a local bookstore to purchase Trim Healthy Mama (which they didn’t carry … Continue reading
